Post-Design

I am a designer, in this moment operating for WoodmanProductions.it and part of its Lab Design.

We create unique artistic objects derived from casual industrial pieces and scrap components. We call it POST-DESIGN, because of the intense effort undertaken toward complete sustainability. Our
POST-DESIGN recognises and identifies the multifunction in a used/scrap item.

Our ultimate example is a tree pattern, which is our inspiration in the moment to come up with an idea or design something new.
A tree (or plant) is a very complex system of abilities. It has vast quantity of wonderful functions: produces oxygen, digests carbon dioxide, produces wood, makes shadow, creates flowers and nice smell for the insects, produces fruits, keep the soil anchored, restrains water and humidity, makes the landscape beautiful, and more. Each part (roots, trunk, branches, leaves, flowers, seeds) have their proper shape and botanic qualities: static, nutritional, aesthetic, etc. A tree has absolute adaptability, necessary to survive over time. POST-DESIGN sees in an object this same flexibility as a potential. A tree also possesses a very good design. A worthy design is not only build up from the ground up, but once there it does not degrade or lose its value over time; it will always be present and visible because of its particular qualities. Consequently, items with a good design and values can be recovered even past their intended use by emphasising the remaining qualities, which will still be appreciable.

The word Design for us does not simply mean decoration, furnishing, or putting together things that fit well with each other, just according to the taste of the current fashion or of those who make the composition. Design firstly means working with a pencil, a calculator, exploring the thoughts and the ideas behind it all; all with the aim of discovering objects which, at the very at least, fulfil one precise purpose and are noticeable by their creative freshness. Accordingly we propose a focused design, providing samples of perfectly working objects created from an original idea.

Coloured wall lamp, made with motorcyle heat covers, to be used as a set.

Chandelier made from motorcycle brake discs.

Column standing lamp built with a statue pedestal and used washing machine baskets.

The BI-BARREL is so called for its multiple functions. Made from a used drum, a small table and related chair were created, but on top of these functions the BI-BARREL can be again closed to become a single unit.
