The unavoidable source of
inspiration of these landscapes and places is represented by the specificity
of external spaces, of the particular atmosphere, of the shapes and natural
elements that characterize the season or that time of the day. They were
all painted ‘en plain air’, with an easel, colours and water
bottles, almost in a “camping atmosphere”.
Sky and motion, a road, a perspective, a background and foreground, with
an element that opens and continues towards the spectator; an image that
walks and subtends other views into which we are invited.
The main techniques utilised are the classic ones: watercolours, tempera
paintings and oil colours (which are applied faster due to the difficulties
in repeating the initial conditions and the intention once the colours have
dried). Other techniques for finishing off are coloured chalks, water pastels,
crayon, and charcoal.
